Intimations of Idiocy: Test Your Knowledge of Cult Movies

“Who knows where the wind comes from? Is it the breath of God? Who knows what makes the clouds? Where do the great swells come from? And for what? Only that now was time and we had waited so long.” --Big Wednesday [1978]

Nancy: “I hate my fuckin’ life.”
Sid: “This is just a rough patch. Things will be much better when we get to America. I promise.”
Nancy: “We’re in America. We’ve been here a week. New York is in America, you fuck.”

“If there is a God, I’d like to meet the dude, I’d like to hang out with him.”
--Harley (Mickey Rourke) in Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man [1991]

What is a cult movie? Just about any film that you will wait up until 3 AM to catch even though you’ve got the fuckin’ thing on videotape. It could be Eraserhead, it could be Dawn of the Dead, hell it could even be Surf Nazis Must Die! For instance, I read in the National Enquirer about a guy who watched South Pacific more than 1,750 times. His wife eventually had him committed to an insane asylum—but that’s another story.

Think you can get into the ring with Alternative Reel and fascinate us with your knowledge of cult movies? See how you do on the following quiz. And if you would like to stump us with one of your own weird and offbeat cult movie trivia questions, just E-mail it our way and we just might throw it into Cult Movies II. Good luck!
